Exclusive Patent Pending Antioxidant Blend

Whilst every Nurax product has a different formulation they all have Nuragene as a common component. Nuragene is our exclusive antioxidant proprietary blend and is based on rosemary and myrtle extracts, both of which are herbs native to the Mediterranean region, and Sardinia in particular. Sardinia is well known for it's high number of centenarians and many experts believe that this can be attributed to their healthy lifestyle and Mediterranean diet rich in its use of rosemary and myrtle. In fact there are very few recipes, in the Sardinian food tradition, that do not include generous portions of both rosemary and myrtle.

The herbs rosemary and myrtle are known to be rich in polyphenols and have been used for centuries because of their potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. There are many studies that document the antioxidant effects of either rosemary extracts or myrtle extracts but we recognised that there were no studies regarding the pharmacological effects of the two extracts used together.

This prompted us to investigate whether the combination of the two herbs could have a synergistic effect. We therefore conducted a number of studies where the two herbs were mixed together in various ratios and doses to determine whether synergistic effects could be observed. The experimental design was such that we could also determine the mixture ratio and dose that showed the maximum synergy. Nuragene was subsequently formulated on the basis of these investigations.

The results of this research carried out in our scientific laboratories in Sardinia show that when rosemary and myrtle are mixed together in the ratios defined by our Nuragene formulation that significant synergy exists. Nuragene therefore possesses greater antioxidant properties in terms of both effect strength and duration than would be expected on the basis of studies using administration of the individual herb (see graph below).
